Welcome to the start of a new year!

2007 is a special year for the Day-Timers family, because we’re celebrating our 60th anniversary!  In 1947, the Dorney family established a small printing business in the heart of the Pennsylvania countryside. One of their early clients was the developer of Lawyer’s Day, a planner designed to help attorneys maintain precise track of their time. It wasn’t long before the Dorneys recognised the universal need for organisation and time management – and the Day-Timer® Planner was born. 60 years later, we’re still printing our planners at the site of the Dorney’s original printing company, and Day-Timers has evolved into the authority for helping millions of people around the world enjoy more organised and productive lives.

We look forward to another year helping you
make the most of your time!

In 1947, Day-Timers was founded with the mission to help people make the most
of their time. Plenty of other interesting things happened that year as well.
Here are some of the most notable:

The music industry would never be the same after 1947 because Arlo Guthrie, David Bowie, Carlos Santana, Sammy Hagar, Alice Cooper, Elton John, and Iggy Pop were all born that year.
The world became much more interesting in July of 1947 when Austria’s native son Arnold Schwarzenegger was born. Little did anyone know that bodybuilder competitions… Terminator movies… and the governorship of California were all in the cards for Arnold.
Ever wonder where the term “computer bug” originated? On September 9, an actual moth lodged itself into a computer at Harvard and the new and often-used expression came into existence.
College students everywhere can give thanks to Walter Morrison. No, he didn’t find a cure for polio or win a Nobel Prize. Instead, he invented the Frisbee®, creating the perfect complement to an afternoon in the sun.
Saying “cheese” gained new meaning in 1947 as Polaroid® made photography literally a snap. No more waiting! Polaroid’s new instant camera developed photos immediately.
A Streetcar Named Desire premiered on Broadway in December. Its first performance garnered an unheard of 30-minute standing ovation for stars Marlon Brando and Jessica Tandy.
Popcorn and TV dinner lovers around the world can cheer for a great 1947 invention: Raytheon introduced the first commercial microwave oven. The behemoth stood nearly 2 metres tall… weighed 340 kilos… and cost about $5,000!

Paper lives on in the digital age!

As we enter our 60th year, I look back and reflect upon the Day-Timers mission, and how it is just as relevant today as it ever has been. Even in today’s digital age, paper-based Day-Timer® Planners are still one of the simplest, quickest, most accessible, and most effective ways to get organised and manage your time. In fact, Day-Timer® Planners remain the organisational tool of choice of millions around the world.

We look forward to another 60 years of satisfying customers like you and sincerely thank you for the continued privilege of helping you to manage your time.
