So — now you've received your Day-Timer system, what do you do with it?
Whichever format you have chosen your Day-Timer system will help you keep track of yourappointments, phone contacts, expenses and notes. Follow our step by step guide on settingup your Day-Timer to make it work for you.
Put your DAILY PAGES behind the monthly dividers for the current and next two months.
Don't carry more than a few months of pages at a time - that way the binder stays light.
Use your monthly dividers for advanced planning and your storage binder for holding pages not in use.
Use this section to record what needs to be done today.
Number these tasks and add priority codes to indicate which things are vital, important or not important.
As you complete each task, reward yourself by ticking them off your list.
List your appointments in the top of the TO DO or ACTION LIST area.
It's often a good idea to block out meeting time - to show you what's left.
Use this space for 'tickler reminders' - notes to yourself about information or goods you are expecting to arrive today.
List all the calls you need to make today here.
Record your daily expenses here for reimbursement / tax purposes.
If you need to, use this column to log the time you spend on particular activities. Vital if you charge out your time.
Use this page to write up your day. You can record:
- Decisions made
- Agreements reached
- Commitments made
- Work you have assigned
- Work delegated to you
- Contact information
Draw a freehand line underneath each note - that way when you are backtracking for information it is easier to find the note you want.
